Size by the ration, not by the dog. A fifteen-litre tower holds around sixty-three cups, three weeks for a large breed on two meals a day, and a smaller hopper means refilling more often rather than feeding less. The larger units also take a bigger kibble, up to about 22 mm, which matters if your dog is on a large-breed formula that jams a narrow chute.

The camera is the part people underrate before they own one. It shows whether the portion dropped, whether the bowl is empty because dinner was eaten, and which animal is standing at the bowl when two share a kitchen. Federal advice on the food itself has not changed: keep dry food in its own bag below eighty degrees, and wash the bowl and the scoop with soap and hot water after each use: a hopper that holds three weeks of kibble is still a container that wants emptying between bags.
